Energy Focus, Inc. (NASDAQ: EFOI) is engaged as an innovator and developer of LED lighting, lighting control technologies, and UVC disinfector solutions. The company typically services enterprises, office environments, and other professional work settings. Shares of the lighting and energy company are soaring 69% through afternoon trading on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. Over the past three months, Energy Focus has seen average daily volume of 73,260 shares. However, volume of 160.68 million shares or dollar volume of around $514.18 million, has already exchanged hands through early trading Wednesday.
Shares of Energy Focus are surging after the company announced the launch of its nUVo products, which are virus-targeted UVC air disinfectors. The new product is backed by patent-pending technology, which is designed to trap and destroy 99.9% of airborne pathogens, including COVID-19 and its related variants. The company is launching two separate models of its nUVo product, a travel and tower size.
Management notes it is accepting orders and making shipments for its nUVo Traveler model. The tower model is currently accepting pre-orders and are estimated to begin shipping out sometime in January 2022.
The nUVo products work by utilizing proven disinfecting lighting solutions, powered by UVC-254nm light. This powerful lighting source is capable of breaking the DNA and RNA strands of the pathogen. Not to worry though, the powerful UVC lamps are enclosed within the unit to ensure safety and airflow.
Both the nUVo Traveler and Tower models have been independently tested and validated by Intertek Microbiological Tests, which showed 94.1%-99.9% pathogen removal over the course of half-an-hour use in 100 cubic feet and 1,000 cubic feet, respectively. Traveler model runs on a four-hour rechargeable battery, while the Tower unit is a plug-in unit for larger spaces.
